Why this page?

If you're wondering why this page? It's because I want to journal the things I'm working on, or the thoughts I want to share.

Why this blog?

If you're wondering why create another blog when there are so many on the internet, well the idea is that it's also like a journal, where I post things and it helps me revisit what I've investigated.

  1. It's personal: It's not formal, even though I've worked in corporate environments where everyone expects you to be friendly and smiling all the time, here the opinions will be more sincere.
  2. More than tech: I'll write about tech, but that's not the main focus here.
  3. How I do self-hosting: I do self-hosting for a few useful services: git, this webpage. I'll try to share how I perform maintenance or what issues I've encountered during these deployments.

Why self-host?

This is the PCHardware running this webpage

I started doing home hosting for a few reasons:

  • I'm in control: I don't rely on cloud providers or other third parties (apart from VPS).
  • No data leaks: There are some things I wouldn't want to share with the big cloud service providers.
  • It's pretty cool: It's quite something to see your data running on hardware in your own home.

What is actually here

It's a blog, a journaling is what I do, it helps me keep track when explaining things.

  • Technical Resources: Step-by-step guides on various topics, from setting up your own development environment to tweaking your server.
  • Personal Self-Hosting Experiences: What I've accomplished, how I've solved issues, challenges...
  • Random Thoughts: Thoughts on professional efficiency, mental health, and other personal interests unrelated to technology.
